Tech Safety

Knowing how to prevent and control online abuse.

Tech Safety

Survivors and victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and trafficking want to be aware of their presence online, their electronic devices, and how predators can use those accounts and activities against them.

How You May Be Tracked or Stalked on Tech Devices:

  • Smartphones- like iPhones with “Find My Phone” options

  • Social media accounts- such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, SnapChat, WhatsApp, etc.

  • Computers or other devices- like Laptops, Ipads, Kindles, Surfaces, etc.

  • Online communication accounts- like Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Craigslist, Ebay, Etsy, Amazon, etc.

  • Smart Home devices- security cameras, light and temperature control, door locking systems, pet cameras, etc.

Stay Tech Safe

The great folks at the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) through their Tech Safety initiative have put together some incredible tool kits and resources for you to better understand where you may be vulnerable, and how to protect yourself and your online accounts. Below are some of the resources we think might be most helpful, but you should also check out their website for upcoming events, webinars, resources and more. Click here to view TechSafety.org.
